For what other reason would such a non story appear in this worsening rag

Our hard working local MP decides to appear on TV in his own time for which he is paid a moderate appearance fee, he declines it and yet some young probably trainee journalist thinks this makes a good story

Back to school I think

You obviously couldn't recognise a decent and hardworking constituency MP
if you saw one, whatever your political views are whatone.

This might have been a news story if he hadn't declared the money, it certainly isn't news that he got an appearance fee and it isn't news that he declared it.

Some months ago I emailed him about a road safety issue I knew he was dealing with. I sent the email late on Sunday evening; I received a personal reply from him at 07:58 the next morning, so he certainly seems like a hardworking MP to me!

Seems like a very modest fee to me. I would have thought a guest panellist on HIGNFY would have been paid far more than £1500. No wonder Roy Hattersley didn't turn up, and was replaced by a tub of lard. I wouldn't mind betting that the guest question masters receive even more than ten times that amount.

I don't recognise him as such he only represents those he likes and slags off those he doesn't, but in such a way they have no come back. He lost all my respect by slagging off a constituent in the House of Commons, where that constituent however nasty they may have been, had no recourse.
For those who choose to selectively read comments I'll repeat it doesn't matter how bad that constituent was.
Plus recent events with Shoreham airport shows he's happy to be party to talks excluding all but one interested party

Surely a better story would be one about the £1k an hour he has been receiving from a private fostering agency, since his sacking as junior children's minister, or maybe why his financial interests in "Classwatch" (the company filming kids in school), disappeared when he was a minister and reappeared after his sacking.

There are far better stories to cover here, or maybe you could mention that the other MP in receipt of the same £1.5k fee, (Sadiq Khan) donated his to charity.

He's my MP and I've always found him to be a pretty decent type, out in all weathers. I certainly don't loathe him. He's actually the only MP of any party that actually banged on my door canvassing. Ever.

If you thought he was a complete **** you clearly didn't see Farage or my old friend Fabricant
