More than £40,000 worth of designer clothes have been stolen from a shop in a smash and grab raid.

Thieves used a black Audi to pull the railings from the window of the men's shop Profile in Dukes Lane, Brighton, at about 3.45am this morning.

The gang also smashed a window and two men then ran inside and grabbed handfuls of designer clothes before jumping back into the car and driven down Ship Street on the A259.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 85 12/5.

So a couple of handfuls of designer clothes are "worth" £40,000 but how much did they cost to make?

Where were the police when this all going on ? and surly they will have cctv of where the car went after....... Brighton seems to have a lack of both police and cctv and crime is on the rise were they feel more then comfortable to do this. Sort it out Sussex Police.

What you have to bear in mind is that on a good night there are only 20 cops on duty. Traffic fuzz are based in Haywards Heath. Essentially we are without police cover unless you are a vommiting chav in West street.
