Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to about a burglary in Burgess Hill.

The man, described as white, in his late thirties, about 5'10" to 6', of medium build, wearing a dark blue fleece and blue jeans, and carrying an umbrella, was seen walking near a house in One O'Clock Lane on the afternoon of Wednesday January 29.

The house was burgled that afternoon and a valuable gold ring was stolen.

Detective Constable Emma Dumbrell said; "If you recognise this man please contact us, as he may be able to help our investigation. You can call us on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1029 of 29/1. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

I wouldn't have thought many burglars go out with an umbrella? What makes the police think this is the burglar?

this is cctv footage its not a specially made image by a television studio ....my thoughts are the images the police have released are clear for al to see but they have maybe a few more "frames" images of the cctv that can show his walking style and maybe some image of him going other way with "SWAG BAG " ?
i like cctv the police in sussex routinely have tiny cameras on their jackets .. lets hope the thief is caught and punished with some punishment fitting i am voting UKIP they say more police and more crack down on illegal immigrants ..deport him instantly if found to be an immigrant ? ? yes or no
