The Argus: New nightclub donates £5k to charity New nightclub donates £5k to charity

A new nightclub is hitting all the right notes after donating thousands of pounds to charity.

Bosses at the new PRYZM club in West Street, Brighton, presented a cheque worth £5,000 to The Mayor’s Charities following its big launch earlier this month.

Organisations like the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity and the Martlets Hospice will benefit from the donation, which was made to former mayor Denise Cobb. Councillor Cobb was replaced as mayor by Councillor Brian Fitch on May 15.

The plush £1 million club enjoyed a successful opening weekend on May 9 and 10, with more than 4,000 clubbers welcomed through its doors to see Radio 1 DJs Zane Lowe and Charlie Sloth.

Club manager David Joyce said: “We were delighted to be able to donate such a significant sum to The Mayor’s Charities, including the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, which will help buy cutting-edge, lifesaving medical equipment for the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit.”

4000 people in one weekend at £10 a pop, £1 for your coat, and a ridiculous £4 a pint, £5 a bottle and £2.70 for a Coke.

Staffed by minimum wage Eastern Europeans and the bare legal minimum door staff paid a pittance after a £1000,000 overhaul.

Oh the generosity has brought a tear to my eye.

£5k for this lot is about 50p in my pension......if that!!
