Here's the moment a cyclist passed through a massive rave at Devil's Dyke

The Argus: VIDEO: Cyclist captures huge Devil's Dyke rave VIDEO: Cyclist captures huge Devil's Dyke rave

A rave which saw 2,000 pour into Sussex took dog walkers and cyclists by surprise.

About 400 vehicles lined the streets in the South Downs National Park as seven huge speaker systems blasted out the tunes.

This is the moment cyclist Tim Fry entered the rave as he unassumingly cycled through the national park:

The police have been criticised for its response to the rave.

It's still going on now. No sleep again tonight. Don't think the police stopped people going up there early enough. As the police are taking no action won't this just encourage this happening more often.

Both the Council and Sussex Police have decided that the unlawful encampment of gypsies and Irish travellers in Preston Park does not warrant immediate eviction despite there being no sanitation on the site and the disruption it causes to regular local park users.
Why should they take a different response to people who are probably local tax payers and residents enjoying a couple of days out of town at their rave?
Both events are unlawful; Preston Park under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act of 1994 and Devil's Dyke under Section 68 of the same act.

Preston Park and this rave are both completely unacceptable IMO. I'm no expert in this area of law but I think councils cannot evict travellers unless they provide them with a legitimate alternative site to go to. Wonder if that is the problem with Preston Park.

Simply not the fact. They may be evicted under English law if they have been asked to go, there are more than two people intending to reside there for any length of time or they have committed any form of damage to the land or have more than six vehicles on the land.
As for providing them with a legitimate alternative, we have provided them with a transit site since 1999 with 21 pitches and there is the Brighton Caravan Club site with another 259 pitches open to members and non members.
Whilst we have some 14,000 people on our own social housing waiting list, we will certainly not provide citizens of the Republic of Ireland with their own properties there further facilities in our country.

People whinging about things like this is indicative of the hypocrisy of the residents of this supposedly "liberal" part of the country. What about the illegal sexual activity that occurs up there on a nightly basis? Its ok to go dogging up there but you cant play music and dance? And the mess left on the beach after this weekend? I guess empty pinot grigio bottles and vegan burger wrappers from organic bbqs is ok too? Seriously, i've never lived nor been to a more pretentious and hypocritical place in all my life.

Has the thin blue line snapped? Katy Bourne should be demanding answers from the Chief Constable, but I won't hold my breathe in anticipation of her being seen to do anything decisive.
