A WOMAN who was arrested for drink-driving twice in two days has been fined and disqualified from driving.

Charlene Palmer, 33, of Saltdean Vale, Saltdean, was charged on Monday (June 2) after she was stopped and arrested in Sutton Park Road, Seaford, at 11.55am.

She was arrested again on Tuesday in Golden Jubilee Way, Eastbourne, at 2.20pm. She was charged with drink-driving a second time and remanded in custody. 

She appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court yesterday where she pleaded guilty to two counts of being in charge of a motor vehicle with excess alcohol and one count of driving without insurance.  

For the drink-driving offence on June 2 she received a £110 fine with a £20 victim surcharge and had her licence endorsed. 

For the charge of driving without insurance, which also relates to June 2, she received a £110 fine and was ordered to pay £85 costs. Her licence was also endorsed a second time. 

For the drink-driving offence on June 3 she received a £110 fine and was disqualified from driving for 36 months.

A total of 11 motorists were charged in the first three days of Operation Dragonfly, Sussex Police’s month-long campaign to tackle drink and drug-driving.

Michelle Beauvois, 47, of Brighton Road, Lancing, was arrested after she was involved in a two car crash in South Street, Lancing, at 10.50pm on June 2.

Sarah Lacey, 48, of Linden Road, Bognor Regis, was arrested at 4.55pm on June 2 after her vehicle was seen weaving in Goring Street, Worthing.

Both Ms Lacey and Ms Beauvois will appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on September 9 charged with drink-driving.

Tarik Girgin, 29, was arrested after a man was seen driving while using a mobile phone at the wheel in Bexhill Road, St Leonards, at 6.10pm on 2 June.

Girgin, of Bromley, Greater London, will appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 23 charged with drink-driving, driving without an MOT, driving without a licence and using a mobile phone while driving.

Ernestas Katinas, 25, was arrested at 9.25am on June 3 after he was stopped and breathalysed for speeding in Victoria Drive, Bognor.

Katinas, of Drift Road, Bognor, will appear at Worthing Magistrates' Court on July 1 charged with drink-driving.
