Final preparations are being made for Burgess Hill’s nine-day summer festival, which kicks off tomorrow and will feature 50 events in and around the town.

Highlights include an evening with bestselling author Peter James, a comedy night with TV regular Josh Widdicombe and music from folk singers Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick.

Other attractions include a summer fun day in the town centre, a teddy bears picnic and a football fun day with Burgess Hill Town Football Club and Brighton and Hove Albion.

There will also be a young writers’ workshop, a pocket science festival and peek behind the scenes with Burgess Hill Theatre Club.

The festival programme is available from Burgess Hill Town Council’s help point and the library. It can also found at www.burgesshill.gov.uk/Summerfestival2014.
