A PREGNANT popstar will be wary of overdoing it when she performs at this year’s Brighton Pride.

X-Factor winner Sam Bailey told The Argus that she will have to be careful performing at this year’s event in Preston Park on Saturday, August 2 – just a month ahead of her due date.

The 36-year-old said she was really looking forward to performing in Brighton especially as it would allow her to indulge in her current pregnancy craving of seaside fish and chips.

And she is promising her fans that she will be singing plenty of “Diva ballads” during her set, including the hit And I’m Telling You, which she wowed audiences with in a duet with Nicole Scherzinger during the X-Factor live finals.

Sam is the latest addition to the line-up at this year’s Pride and will join Scherzinger’s former Pussycat Doll bandmate Kimberly Wyatt, boyband Blue, 90s rockers Republica and disco diva and original Weather Girls member Martha Wash.

Another top star will be announced later this month.

Sam became the X-Factor champion in December while her debut album The Power Of Love went straight in at number one on the official album chart in March.

She said it will be her first time at Brighton Pride but she is a seasoned veteran of other Pride events around the country including Cardiff, Manchester and Weston-Super-Mare.

She told The Argus: “When I did the X-Factor tour, Brighton was the best place, the whole seaside feel, the people, it was such a nice atmosphere.

“I am a big supporter of Pride and I have got quite a gay following so I am really looking forward to it.

“I am going to be fat so it’s going to be interesting live.

“I have performed when heavily pregnant before and I will be careful to not push it too hard.

“But I am going to struggle to hold that excitement in of performing at such an amazing event and being part of that.”

As well as heading to Preston Park to perform at Brighton Pride, Sam has also got her eyes on one other location during her visit to the city.

She said: “I have a real craving for seaside fish and chips at the moment and I love Harry Ramsden’s so I will probably have to pop in there during the day.”

Brighton Pride director Paul Kemp said: “We are thrilled to have secured Sam Bailey for Pride this year especially as she is expecting a new baby.

“Sam not only has an amazing voice, but is one of the most popular winners of X-Factor and she is such an inspirational, hard-working woman.

“Ticket sales this year are above all expectations and with more businesses helping us with the fundraising we really hope we can smash last year’s total donated to the Rainbow Fund.

“With a great line up and extended hours until 10pm, this year’s Pride finale show will really be something special.”
