A 20-year-old woman was raped in a car.

The  victim was talking to a man in Marine Parade, Eastbourne, who she had agreed to meet, when he pushed her into a dark five-door Citroen car parked near the Crown and Anchor pub and forced himself upon her.

The woman, from Eastbourne, managed to get out of the car and the man drove away, shortly after midnight on June 1.

The attacker was in his mid 20s, black, muscular and about 5' 5". He was wearing a black baseball cap, a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans and tan boots.

Detective Constable Julian Harris said: "The man had been talking to the victim for about an hour, walking around Eastbourne with her before he attacked her.

"The victim has been left very shaken by what happened and we urgently need to find anyone that can help us track the man down.

"Before the attack, the victim and her attacker had been walking with two other black men from Eastbourne Pier to Langney Road.

"The first was wearing a minty green shirt, dark blue jeans and tan boots. The second was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans and white trainers.

"If you saw the three men walking in Eastbourne town centre, recognise the descriptions of the men or saw the woman being forced into the car, please contact us."
