A 15-year-old girl has gone missing after she was last seen with friends.

Alex Juby, who goes to Brighton Aldridge Community Academy,  has not been seen since yesterday evening at approximately 6.30pm in Moulsecoomb.

Phyllis Stevenson, Alex’s grandmother, said she has never gone missing before and they have been in touch with the police

The family have launched a Facebook appeal in an effort to find her.

Rose Cresswell, owner of Monroe’s Beauty Salon and a family friend, said: “We just want her back.”

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police looking for a missing Brighton girl have confirmed that she had contact with travellers encamped on the outskirts of the city.

"The 15-year-old girl was reported missing at 11.10pm on Monday and is known to have visited Wild Park along with two friends during the evening.

"However, from talking to one of the friends, police believe that she was given a lift to a friend's house and that social media reports of her being abducted by travellers are not correct."
