BRIGHTON Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) is in the top 5% nationally for English GCSE results, compared to similar schools.

This achievement is largely down to Rachel Congreve and her exceptional team.

Rachel started at Falmer High School in September 2009 as an advanced skills teacher in English.

In 2010, Falmer High became BACA, and Rachel was promoted to director of learning for English.

She was then promoted in June 2013 to assistant senior manager for teaching and learning and finally joined the senior leadership team as assistant vice principal for teaching and learning in April.

Rachel was unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony, but the award was collected on her behalf by headteacher Dylan Davies who spoke glowingly of his colleague.

He said: “This is an amazing recognition of Rachel’s work and the contribution she’s made to our community school and the wider community of Brighton and Hove.

“She has got a brilliant team of English teachers and I’m thoroughly proud of the work that they have done and this is great recognition for this and for Rachel.”
