HOSPICE supporter Jo-Jo Coppard took on a marathon challenge to raise vital funds for its work.
The 71-year-old from Hove was the oldest person in the Martlets Hospice team to take part in this year's Brighton Marathon.
Mrs Coppard power-walked her way around the 26-mile course, finishing in just over six-and-a-half hours. She raised more than £1,300 and presented the cheque to staff at the hospice in Wayfield Avenue, Hove.
Mrs Coppard has also taken part in the hospice's Peacehaven abseil and Midnight Walk.
She said: “I do these events mainly to raise money for the Martlets, who desperately need all the sponsorship they can get.
“The hospice and all the staff working within that organisation do such a wonderful job.
“I am unable to actually give money so I do it by means of sponsorship.”
The hospice is not part of the NHS and so relies on the support of the community to continue its services.
