There was a blaze at a care home in the early hours of this morning.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended Windlesham Manor, Hurtis Hill, Crowborough, to tackle a fire which started in the roof space.

One person was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. A number of other people were checked over by South East Coast Ambulance crews.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the building to tackle the blaze.

Crews were alerted at 12.45am after there were reports of smoke in the building. 

Three fire engines were sent from Crowborough and Uckfield.

Currently the fire is believed to be an accidental electrical fire.
