THREE babies who developed blood poisoning from a contaminated nutritional drip are continuing to recover in hospital.
The trio fell ill while being cared for at a neonatal intensive care unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
They were among 22 babies in ten units around the country who developed the bacillus cereus infection linked to a batch of liquid feed supplied by London- based pharmaceutical firm ITH Pharma.
Two babies at St Thomas’s Hospital in London have died, although Public Health England (PHE) is not linking the second death to the infection.
There have been no new infections since June 2.
A Royal Sussex spokesman said the three babies have now fin- ished their course of antibiotics and are “doing okay”.
PHE incident director Mike Catchpole said investigations sug- gest liquids in the drips were con- taminated in one day and the products are no longer in circula- tion.
