Colladeen Visage, £29.90, naturesbest.co.uk.

This “revolutionary product” can apparently help the body build its own barrier against the sun, offering Factor 10 protection.

It’s become popular for tackling laughter lines and crow’s feet, but can also give the skin a basic defence against harmful UV rays, according to researchers. Scientists discovered that the pill strengthens small blood vessels that provide nutrients and oxygen to cells. It contains lutein and anthocyanidins. It is taken in tablet form with food every day. I was sceptical as I am about most products which claim to reduce wrinkles, but after six weeks of taking the two pills daily people have started to comment on how well I look. My skin looks more hydrated, brighter and dare, I say it, the dreaded crow’s feet are a little less noticeable. At £29.90 for two months’ supply it’s not cheap, but if you can afford it, give it a go.

Nerole and Rosehip Organic Moisturiser, £27, greenwoodorganics.com

Most women, and an increasing number of men, can’t live without moisturiser, but with a huge selection on offer it’s hard to know which one to choose.

Well to save you the time, try this organic one by Zoe Greenwood. It can be used daily by most skin types. Zoe has blended it using jojoba and geranium essential oils which help to balance the natural sebum (oil) in the skin. Rosehip oil supports and smoothes the skin without clogging the pores. The beautiful yellow colour comes from seabuckthorn extract which has healing benefits due to its high levels of vitamins and antioxidants. What’s more it smells absolutely amazing. Love it.

The Lift, £49.95, from eternal cosme ceuticals.com

This is a non-surgical face-lift, that gives dramatic results in an instant. It lifts, tones and firms the face – temporarily. It has been used by leading celebrity make-up artists for years. It is a three-part treatment which requires a bit of preparation, but stick with it because it’s worth it if you want to look sensational for a night out. It involves blending the Lift mask powder with the liquid booster and mixing to a paste which is then applied with a cosmetic brush, with upward and outward strokes avoiding the lip and eye area. After removing with warm water, The Lift finishing crème is applied. At £49.95 for 10 treatments, this product isn’t cheap, but the effects are just as good as a full facial. Knocks 10 years off for a good 24 hours and definitely tightens the jaw-line.

Effectiveness: 8/10; Value for money 9/10.

MitoQ Moisturising Anti-Ageing Serum, 50ml, £79, MitoQ. com/uk

This product, only recently available commercially, claims to be 847 times more effective than any other CoQ formula. CoQ is a powerful antioxidant so the cream claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I normally spend about £10 on a pot of moisturiser so this was way out of my normal price range but my skin felt smooth and less greasy than usual. The cream is light and easy to apply. It absorbs really well and, for those who like to keep it simple, this serum has no scent. I’m not convinced any ‘lines’ were reduced but my skin definitely felt lighter and healthier. It’s an expensive investment but one bottle lasts around two months.

MitoQ 5mg Targeted Anti-Oxidant Capsules, £37.25, as above

The extent of my dietary supplement intake is a vitamin C every morning to try to stave off the dreaded cold. So I took two MitoQ capsules a day for a month. The supplement claims to boost energy levels and support organ health. I can’t really vouch for how my organs are doing but I felt like I had increased energy and a clearer head. It could have been a coincidence and some will argue it’s ‘all in the mind’ but I definitely felt a bit sharper. Almost £40 for a month's supply.
