A teenager had his jaw broken after being attacked while out with friends.
The 18-year-old man was assaulted close to Costa Coffee in Wellington Place, Hastings, on Sunday June 8 at 12.20am.
He suffered a fractured jaw which required an operation.
There are believed to be two suspects – the first described as a white man, aged late teens, of proportionate build and with short, dark hair. He was wearing tracksuit bottoms, hooded top with a white hood.
The second suspect is described as a white man, aged late teens, of thin build. He was wearing a light top with a shoulder bag.
Detective Sergeant Tony Webb said: "The victim was trying to prevent his friend from being assaulted by a man who was determined to get to his friend and punch him."
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault, questioned and released on bail until July 22.
