A fire on a derelict barge which caused delays to traffic this morning is now under control.
The fire service said the blaze on the boat on the River Ouse, Newhaven, started this morning when a demolition company lost control of materials they were disposing of.
The boat was on fire near the Swing Bridge and caused one lane of the A259 to be closed.
The fire service were called at around 9.25am and one crew from Roedean a crew from Newhaven attended.
Due to the unstable state of the boat no personnel were allowed onto the vessel and so the fire had to be fought from the side of the river.
By 12.45pm the fire had been put out apart from a few smouldering embers.
A relief pump is at the scene to ensure the fire remains extinguished.
