STAFF at a leading solicitors have gone the extra mile for their new sponsored charity Macmillan Sussex.

Mayo Wynne Baxter (MWB) staff pushed their pedals for 100 miles to raise money for the cancer charity.

Trainee solicitor Jo Ironside, 30, got the fundraising off to an impressive start by organising the bike ride between six of the firm’s offices.

It began at the Dyke Road office in Brighton and headed 13.7 miles to the firm’s Seaford office.

From there some continued and some joined in from Seaford to Eastbourne.

The toughest leg was Eastbourne to Forest Row, with the impressive 29.2 mile feat taking about three hours.

From there it was on to East Grinstead, then Lewes and back to Brighton.

Jo said: “I came up with the idea for the Tour de MWB to support Macmillan because we wanted our first event for them to be challenging and inclusive of all of our staff – cycling around all our offices seemed like a great way to do it.”

Non-cycling staff welcomed the cyclists and made sure they were stocked up with refreshments and cakes.

Sarah Coxhill of Macmillan said: “We’re so thrilled that the staff at Mayo Wynne Baxter have come up with such a fantastic bespoke fundraising idea.

“The funds will support Sussex residents by helping to complete the Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre.”
