MP tackles council over pool delays

The Argus: MP tackles council over pool delays MP tackles council over pool delays

AN MP is asking a council for answers about an “unacceptable delay” in the redevelopment of a leisure centre. Mike Weatherley, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove, has written to the chief executive of Brighton and Hove City Council for an update on the King Alfred redevelopment.

Last year the MP hosted a public meeting attended by hundreds of residents on the redevelopment and also spoke at a Brighton and Hove City Council Policy and Resources meeting in order to keep the desire for a 50m swimming pool alive.

Mr Weatherley said: “I understand that the Project Board has not met for months. As things stand, Brighton and Hove City Council is failing residents.”

Mr Weatherley there aren't many Politicians that aren't failing in one way or another either.

The main brake on redevelopment of the KA are the nimbys who live on Kingsway - mainly Weatherley's voters.....

Yes, we need a new pool but what isn't needed is a mad Frank Geary building with so called 'affordable flats' because 1) They never are and 2) The whole design was not about the leisure centre but about cramming as many flats into a poorly thought-out stucture. Madness.
This is not about NIMBYS but sensible planning.

At the end of the day, if you want the pool it has to be paid for. Unless the residents of Hove are happy to stick their hands in their pockets then with respect you are going to need the money from the flats.

However, this is not the gist of the story- that is thet the BHCC "Project Board has not met for months" which may or may not be acceptable, but certainly does not appear to have been addressed here.

Because they need more than one to claim expenses probably

The last sentence is certainly correct, but not only on this project and not only the Green council. The Tories and Labour were no better.
