A driver is fighting for his life after being impaled on a fence post.

The man has been airlifted to St George's Hospital in London after suffering critical injuries in a collision on the A285 at Duncton near Chichester at around 5pm this afternoon.

Sussex Police said the man was impaled on a fence post after his car left the road and rolled.

The road was closed for several hours after the sickening crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Adstone.
