The future of a historic pub will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.

A public meeting has been arranged on Thursday at 7.30pm at the Calvary Church in Viaduct Road in Brighton to discuss the future of the 144-year-old Rose Hill Tavern.

A local action group met the new owners of the pub earlier this month and learnt that it is proposed to convert the site back into two houses but leave the distinctive green tiling and original doors on the property.

The action group has tabled several proposals, which they believe could save the pub as a community venue and further discussions are expected in the coming weeks.

The pub was granted asset of community value status in May giving residents the opportunity to raise £350,000 to try and buy the property.

An online survey gathering views on the pub and its role in the community can be found at s.on-device.com/w/RUf.
