Water-saving devices have been installed at a school.
With the help of water services company Mouchel Ltd, Southern Water has installed devices such as tap aerators and dual-flush valves onto Elm Grove Primary School’s taps and toilets.
Pupils will also be helping Southern Water’s studies into household water use by recording usage in their home for an audit. The utility company will study the results and report back to the pupils with ways in which they can cut water usage at home.
The partnership is part of Brighton and Hove City Council’s One Planet City initiative. If successful, it may be rolled out to other schools in the South East.
James Waring, acting head of Elm Grove School, said: “All schools are focusing on their water and energy usage to ensure that costs can be as low as possible, enabling more of our school budgets to be spent on teaching and learning.”
