A woman was racially abused by a group of three people sitting on a bench.

At about 6pm on Wednesday 11 June the 35-year old local woman was in Luxford Field, Uckfield, walking to the nearby Tesco store, when she was verbally abused by a group of three people who were sitting on a bench.

All are described as white teenagers.

One was a girl with long hair dyed dark in colour but pulled back, and large hoop earrings.

The second suspect was also a girl, with short blonde hair in a bob cut and wearing a tracksuit. The third suspect was a boy, with short blond hair, of stocky build, and wearing a hooded top without sleeves - possibly pale orange in colour.

The victim is of Thai heritage, although the suspects referred to her as Chinese. PC Samantha Fee said; "This is an unusual incident for Uckfield and has been recorded as a hate crime which is a priority for the force to investigate.

It caused distress to the victim and we would like the help of local people in identifying this trio.
