FOR a fourth consecutive year specialists are moving in to investigate an illness outbreak at a family resort.

Butlins’ in Bognor Regis faced investigations over outbreaks in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and once again specialists will be looking into guests who have suffered symptoms of gastric illness at the resort in May and June this year.

The latest cases make the fourth consecutive year law firm Irwin Mitchel has been asked for help regarding Butlins in Bognor Regis

As well as the 219 people it represents from 2011, the team is also working to secure justice for 14 people affected by problems in 2012 and another 23 who fell ill during stays in 2013.

Amandeep Dhillon, a Partner and expert in illness claims at Irwin Mitchell, said: “Having heard first-hand accounts regarding the problems that our clients have faced at Butlins in Bognor Regis in recent years, we are deeply concerned to hear reports of fresh problems at the resort.

"We will now be commencing our own investigations into the concerns which have been outlined to us, with a view to gaining a better understanding of what holidaymakers have faced.”

“The impact that holiday illness can have on victims cannot be underestimated and we see numerous examples in our work where people have developed serious, long-term health issues as a result of suffering such problems.

“Due to the seriousness of these issues, we are determined to work quickly and thoroughly to understand these problems and would urge anyone else affected to please get in touch to help us with our enquiries.”

It's always good to see Argus Bear managing to dig up a story from the provinces, in an attempt to and persuade companies based outside Brighton that it's worth shelling out to advertise on the site. Well done, Argus Bear!

hmmm, more likely the guests haven't bothered to wash their hands after going to the bathroom, the number of people I've seen who don't is astonishing, in every pub, club, restaurant and cinema I've ever been to.

Hardly Butlins fault, unless it also includes their kitchen staff!

I picked up something when I went on my 8th birthday, some 13 years ago now and ended up being taken to hospital where I remained for 8 days.

having been to butlins,i have to say that at every entrance to any of their venues they have hand gel dispensers.
but people just breeze on past them.
ive witness people not washing their hands after going to the loos and i bet those same people are then rummaging through the cutlery etc in the dining halls.
hence if we go we don't have the dining package anymore.
only takes one person who has an upset tummy and poor hygiene and the illness will escalate.
