HAIR and make-up specialists produced some stunning creations on the catwalk at an annual arts event.

Central Sussex College students showcased some extreme looks at this year’s Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up Fantasy Showcase.

Students had been working for months to prepare looks including hair, make-up, costumes and special effects.

Looks were inspired by fantasy characters from films and mythology ranging from the Power Rangers to Cheshire Cats.

The event was hosted by lecturer Sandra Dennis, who began the evening by introducing the panel of judges which included beauty lecturers Julie Fry and Julie Goacher and guest judge Judy Neame.

Each student’s model took to the catwalk alongside their chosen music to show off the carefully-planned makeovers.

After much deliberation, guest judge Judy Neame announced the winners of the level two category, awarding first prize to Emma Rickman from Horsham.

Emma transformed her model, Faye Trowse, into a Sweeney Todd character.

Second prize went to Emily Lake from Horsham, and her out-of-this-world alien creation – Jendora.

In the level three category, first prize went to Natasha Hansen from Crawley. She transformed her brother Curtis into Darth Maul for a show-stopping and slightly terrifying Star Wars inspired look.

Second prize was awarded to Elizabeth Whitehead from East Grinstead for her impressive look which was inspired by the Terminator films.

Hair and Beauty Lecturer Sandra Dennis was thrilled with the students’ commitment to the event.

She said: “They are all winners and you can really see the progress they have made from last year.

“It is so amazing to see what young people are capable of.”
