A fight outside a shop drew a crowd which gathered to watch.
Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were seen fighting in the street in Eastbourne.
Officers were called to Seaside Road at 8.30pm on Friday 13 June to the Premier shop because a crowd had formed to watch the men fighting.
At least one of the men suffered injuries in the incident.
PC Angela Parfitt said: "Although one man has been arrested we are still trying to find witnesses who were in the area and saw what happened.
"If you saw or heard part of what happened, or know the people who were involved, please contact us with any information you might have."
A 43-year-old man was arrested and questioned on suspicion of affray before being released on bail until July 15.
