A PINT-sized comedian is offering a little helping hand to his daughter’s new business.

Comedy legend Ronnie Corbett is to help launch his daughter Sophie’s new shop in Brighton after one of his comedy sketches inspired its name.

Sophie Corbett has named her new Brighton boutique in Victoria Street after one of her father’s most famous sketches of wordplay – Four Candles.

The shop will be opened at 2pm on Sunday by the comedy great.

Corbett rose to fame as a performer on The Frost Report before going on to become half of one of the UK’s most loved comedy duos in The Two Ronnies.

He appeared in the show with Ronnie Barker through the 1970s and 80s.

The 83-year-old is still working on TV well past retirement age.

His eldest daughter Sophie has followed her father’s footsteps into the world of entertainment to become one of Britain’s top voiceover performers in TV commercials while also founding bohemian clothing range marvinandmaud.com.

The 45-year-old lives in Connaught Terrace in Hove with her singer songwriter husband, Gordon Grahame, and two sons, actor Dylan, 16, and ballet dancer Billy, nine, who she says have backed her new project.

Sophie said that her store, which she is launching with her friend and business partner Siobhan Stagg, will sell “everything imaginable” ranging in price from £4 to £1,200.

In store, customers can find her own luxury bohemian clothes and bags under her designer label of Maud, her mother’s second name.

The shop will also stock hand-made furniture, Sam Ubhi jewellery, Ortigia beauty gifts, designer towels and beach-wear and bespoke haberdashery products created especially.

She added: “I have had such wonderful love from both my parents all my life that I wanted to pay tribute to them with the name for the boutique.

“My darling Dad will cut a ribbon to declare The Four Candles open.”

Her only sadness is that the late Ronnie Barker won’t be present.
