A retired greengrocer and keen golfer is celebrating after winning more than £150,000 on the EuroMillions lottery.

John Kingsman, 77, won £154,144.50 from the EuroMillions draw on June 20.

Mr Kingsman didn’t discover he had won the money until he checked his tickets two days after the draw.

He said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw I had the five main numbers and one of the Lucky Star Numbers. I was shaking from head-to-toe.

“I had to get my neighbour to check it with me to make sure I had got it right.

Mr Kingsman, of Aldwick near Bognor, made his regular Sunday morning trip to Sainsbury’s with his winning ticket but he said he was disappointed to discover he was unable to collect the money He said: “I showed the ticket to the chap behind the counter and he said he couldn’t pay it out to me as it was over £500.”

Mr Kingsman’s winnings were later confirmed by Camelot at £154,144.50. However, Mr Kingsman has no plans on giving up his job at Wholesales and Catering Supplies in Winchester, where he revealed his main task is making tea.

He said: “I still go into the office to take phone orders but I mostly make tea, making me probably the oldest tea boy in the country.

“I would be bored if I was just in my flat every day, although now I’ve won this money I plan to spend more time on the golf course.”

Mr Kingsman was a keen golfer in his early years, playing off a ten handicap, but was forced to give up playing the game for a time last year due to ill health.

With no immediate family, Mr Kingsman plans on treating many of his close friends with meals out and time on the golf course.

He is also planning on upgrading his Ford Fiesta and Mr Kingsman his eyes firmly set on a Range Rover.
