Britain's Got Talent winner Richard Hadfield will see a dream come true this year when he takes to the main stage at Brighton Pride.

As part of musical theatre boyband Collabro, Richard, 20, of Portslade, won the popular talent show last month.

Collabro’s appearance at Brighton Pride in Preston Park on Saturday, August 2 will be one of their first live performances since their sudden rise to fame.

Richard said: “I’m just ecstatic – I feel privileged that we have been asked to play. I’ve always wanted to sing at Pride and this will be a dream come true.

“It’s an iconic festival and I make it down every year if I can. It never fails to be mind-blowing.”

Collabro are signed to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco and have been working on their first album, Stars, which is due to be released on July 28.

The tracks have all been recorded and the band are waiting to hear the mastered versions.

Richard said: “It’s been a blast making the album, though it’s a lot of work. We are there from nine in the morning to ten at night.”

He added: “The whole thing is just unreal.

“On the Tuesday after we won we were sat down with Syco executives and the head of PR. I had to stop the conversation at one point because I couldn’t believe it was actually happening – I said: ‘Can I just say, this is mental’.”

Richard is living at his family home in Portslade while looking for a place to live in London.

He said: “My mum’s helping me keep my feet on the ground, reminding me to clean room.

“What I love is performing and seeing people enjoy themselves. If it was up to me I would just walk off stage and everything would be normal. My dream has always been to sing and perform, not to buy into the whole fame thing.”
