A cyclist has been left in a critical condition after a collision over which a man has been arrested.
A 42-year-old man from Westbourne suffered serious head injuries when he was riding his bicycle and was involved in a collision with a white Honda Jazz.
The incident happen at Knights Hill, Charlton near Chichester, at around 5.15pm on Saturday, July 5 He was taken to St George's Hospital in London by air ambulance where he remains in a critical condition.
A 54-year-old man from Sweden, the driver of the Honda, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until July 8 while investigations continue.
Sergeant Stewart Goodwin said: "We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this crash or the vehicles prior to the crash to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Birr.
"The road was closed for a number of hours while we investigated the scene and motorists are thanked for their patience."
