Two adults and two children made their way to safety after a fire broke out in their home.
Witnesses described a "horrendous fire" which broke out in the roof-space of a house in Vernon Avenue, Peacehaven, last night.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at 8.45pm to tackle the blaze.
Four fire engines attended the scene and got the blaze under control by 01.34am.
Fire investigators are now on the scene attempting to determine the cause.
