Counterfeit cigarettes were seized by officers from Trading Standards.

After a test purchase was carried out by Sussex Police at a shop called Burgess Hill Market in Church Walk, Burgess Hill, officers from West Sussex County Council Trading Standards seized a quantity of cigarettes from the property.

One member of staff accepted a police caution on July 2 and another, Amir Asadi, 27, of Sultan Rd, London E11, was charged with two offences will appear at Crawley Magistrates Court on July 23.

PC Phil King of the Neighbourhood licensing team said "Counterfeit cigarettes are a significant health hazard.

"This type of operation demonstrates the importance of a number of different agencies working together to ensure the safety of the community.
