A SUPERMARKET was evacuated after a burst water main flooded the store.
Officers from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the branch of Iceland in Wallace Avenue, Goring, at 6.47pm on Monday after a water main in a property above the store burst.
The store was evacuated and two crews from Worthing Fire Station turned off the water supply and salvaged undamaged goods.
Mick Symes, of Worthing, said: “I was driving past and saw all the staff sitting outside. The leak had brought down a number of ceiling tiles.”
The store remained closed for an hour and a half until normal closing time and reopened yesterday with only minimal damage to some stock.
