A man on the run from police has spent the last two years “living the dream” in a sweltering Spanish resort.

Lloyd Trainer has spent two years on a Sussex Police wanted list over his alleged involvement in a “high value” burglary at an antiques shop.

In January 2012 the Petworth Antique Centre in East Street, Petworth, was burgled and a police investigation linked Trainer to the crime.

Burglars broke down the door with a sledgehammer before breaking their way into cabinets inside.

Trainer, 24, was featured on BBC Crimewatch in June this year when police appealed for information about his whereabouts.

A national newspaper this week claimed an anonymous source said Trainer has been “bragging” about featuring on Crimewatch and “showing people clips from the show on his phone”. They added: “He thinks he’s untouchable.”

According to his Facebook profile Trainer arrived in Magaluf in April that year – famous for being a hotspot for Brits on booze cruises.

When he arrived he posted: “Wahey finally got to Magaluf lol.”

Commenting on a picture of himself shirtless surrounded by girls in lingerie he added: “Normal day at work haha living the dream lol.”

Janice Enticknap, manager of the Petworth Antique Centre, said: “If he is in Magaluf then at least he is not in Petworth”.

The 62-year-old added: “My mother had died the previous August and I was working hard to run the premises for the family. It was desperately upsetting and horrible.”

Trainer, originally from Surrey, who attended Carshalton Boys Sports College, also has links to Glasgow and London. A spokesman for Crimewatch said: “Lloyd Douglas Trainer, 24, is wanted for questioning by officers in Sussex in connection with a burglary at an antique shop. Trainer has links to Glasgow, Surrey and London.

He also appeared in the background of BBC3 documentary The Truth About Magaluf, first broadcast in January 2013.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Lloyd Trainer, 24, from Surrey is wanted for a high value burglary from the Petworth Antique Centre in East Street, Petworth in January 2012.

“He has been wanted by police since then.”
