Residents in eight streets in Hove have asked to have 20mph limits.
The roads near Hove Park were excluded from Phase 2 of the 20mph rollout on June 16.
A group of residents asked councillors to reconsider the limits saying more residents were in favour of the limits by 122 respondents to 120 opposed.
The group of residents are from Goldstone Crescent, Hove Park Road, Hove Park Way, The Droveway, Orchard Road, Orchard Gardens, Park View Road and Woodland Drive.
Ian Davey, lead councillor for transport at Brighton and Hove City Council, said: “It’s highly encouraging that people are actively coming forward wanting 20mph.
“We’re asking officers to look again at this area, giving particular consideration to the needs of children travelling to school and to the popular Hove Park.”
Consultation on the third phase of 20mph speed limits is due to take place in September.
It would cover Hangleton, Woddingdean, Ovingdean, Saltdean and Rottingdean.
