A horse was rescued by firefighters after falling into a ditch.

Fire officers from Crowborough and a specialist animal rescue unit were called to a field off Warren Road in Crowborough at 4.40pm this afternoon to reports of a horse trapped in a ditch.

The horse was pulled to safety in an operation lasting almost two hours before being given a thorough check over by a vet.
