A search has been called off after reports of a girl who jumped into the sea.
The coastguard were called at about 11.30 this morning after a member of the public became concerned when the girl did not re-appear in the East Beach area of Selsey having jumped into the water.
After a two-hour search, the two lifeboats and RNLI helicopter stood down.
