Violent storms hit Sussex again last night with at least two houses hit by lightning.

A teenager was treated for electric shock after a family home was hit in Uckfield, East Sussex.

Fire crews were called to West View, Manor Park, in the town at 9.49pm on Friday.

Two engines from Uckfield fire station and one from Crowborough were sent to the house which had been struck.

The lightning caused a fire on the first floor and crew members had to use breathing mask and hoses to put it out.

All persons were accounted for but a 13-year-old was treated by paramedics for electric shock.

Roof tiles were removed and the house made safe before crews left the property shortly before midnight.

In Patcham, Brighton, flames shot out of the electrical sockets of a house after being hit by lighting.

Fire crews were called to the property in Old London Road at 3.30am on Saturday morning.

The strike sent flames shooting out the electrical sockets – and left the home’s electrics charred.

The two occupants were woken by the strike but were unhurt.

It's good news week
Someone's dropped a bomb somewhere
Contaminating atmosphere
And blackening the sky

It's good news week
Someone's found a way to give
The rotting dead a will to live
Go on and never die

Have you heard the news
What did it say?
Who's won that race?
What's the weather like today?

It's good news week
Families shake the need for gold
By stimulating birth control
We're wanting less to eat

It's good news week
Doctors finding many ways
Of wrapping brains on metal trays
To keep us from the heat

👍 it was a great song. A top ten hit. Good to see the lyrics after all these years. Not really appropriate for the Argus though lol

Great photos.

Hundreds of kids have experienced their first thunderstorm: spectacular lightening over the channel followed by thunder claps.

Thunder and lightening happen at the same time. Since sound waves are slower than light waves we see lightening before we hear the thunder.

Thank you nature for the show.
