A lifeboat crew has issued a warning after two revellers were rescued from the sea.

Brighton RNLI volunteer crew was called out at 4.26am on Sunday morning.

The police made the emergency call after a man and woman were reported in the water.

The pair was found directly out from the West Street area of Brighton.

A RNLI spokesman said: “They were both in their 20s and had been out drinking.

“The woman was fully clothed and the male part-clothed. They were about 200metres out when we got to them.

“The woman was given oxygen and taken to the shore where she was treated by South East Coast Ambulance service.”

He added: “The message we want to get out is that alcohol and the sea do not mix”.

So is it forbidden to swim in the sea at 4 30 am now then. A new law obviously made by the Greens

Stupid idiots! More public money wasted on extracting people from their own selfish imbecility.

And of course it was alcohol-related.

Well done to the RNLI. Without them this stupid couple could of easily lost their lives like so many others over the years who have come out the clubs/pubs and thought it would be a good idea to go for a swim in the sea. They should be fined.

I'm glad they're ok and safe. I hope they've learnt their lesson from this.

It's best to just go for a paddle when you're half cut but you lose your sense of what's ok and what isn't when drunk or drugged.

Thank you to the RNLI for being super hero's again and losing lots of sleep when saving two young people.

So you're saying that they should be punished by death?

Its was a young girl, the male went in after her.. she was out by the row of bouy markers, so wasn't a paddle... She was also reportedly full clothed..

Never put yourself in danger, a silly mistake that could sadly turn into a tragic accident!

I wonder if you would feel the same if it was your friend or relative rescued ? In Any event deaths would cost more as there would be coastguard searches, inquest etc.. These young people should count themselves lucky, well done R.N.L.I.

You would not have ben worrying about money if you were standing on that beach Sunday morning as I was. The very young girl was clearly troubled and her friends immensely distressed. I thought she was dead if im honest and to think that people out there like you think that's what she deserves make me sick. Get down of your high horse and get a grip on reality. Trolling news sites so you can say your nasty little piece. You need to look hard in the mirror before you write your no doubt vicious little response to me!!!
