Over £10,000 worth of jewellery was stolen during a smash and grab burglary.

Chequers Antiques on Lombard Street, Petworth, was burgled during the night around £12,000 worth of jewellery was stolen which included a number of diamond encrusted pieces.

PC Fiona Turnbull said: "Around £12,000 worth of jewellery was stolen including these items pictured which include a Victorian pendant formed as two hearts with opals and diamonds, an 18 carat gold ring with nine diamonds, a solitaire ring with diamonds in an 18 carat gold band, two platinum Tiffany rings with diamonds, 18 carat gold earrings and a ring with three opals and two diamonds.

"A Silver Saab, which was later found abandoned in Fittleworth, was seen to drive from the scene and two men were seen wearing balaclavas.”

The break-in happened at around 11.30pm on July 2.
