A DRY farm meadow is being transformed into a habitat for wildlife species.

Horsham District Council, supported by the Friends of Chesworth Farm, are undertaking a restoration project at the farm to transform the meadow into a wetland habitat.

The Riverside Fields will be transformed to attract a wider range of species, many of which have been declining in number locally and nationally.

Jonathan Chowen, cabinet member for leisure, arts and culture, said: “I am particularly excited that this next crucial stage in the Chesworth Farm development project is now being implemented to create such a unique habitat and enhance the diversity of this special area.”

The first phase of the project began last week and will see an all-weather path and fencing installed.

Later phases of the project will include work to encourage flora and fauna, a boardwalk, a bird hide and new planted areas and information boards.
