A FAMILY court judge has made decisions about care arrangements for a boy whose estranged parents became embroiled in a legal dispute over how his cancerous brain tumour should be treated.

Neon Roberts’ case hit the headlines more than 18 months ago when he was seven.

His mother Sally, who was living in Brighton at the time, objected to him receiving radiotherapy treatment but her estranged husband, Ben Roberts, consented.

A judge ruled in December 2012 that Neon should receive radiotherapy treatment.

The judge came to this decision after analysing evidence at a High Court hearing in London.

Ms Roberts had said she feared that radiotherapy would cause her son long-term harm.

However, Mr Justice Bodey ruled against her after being told by doctors that Neon could die within months without radiotherapy.

Mr and Ms Roberts then became involved in another legal dispute about who should care for Neon, now nine.

The couple were back at the High Court on Wednesday to hear another judge spell out decisions on Neon’s care arrangements.

Judge Angela Finnerty outlined her judgment to the couple at a private hearing at the court.

A reporter was allowed to attend part of the hearing but the judge ruled that details about the decisions could not be published.

The judge said that her ruling would mean Neon’s “close and loving relationship” with each of his parents would continue.

Judge Finnerty gave no detail of Neon’s current medical condition in relation to the brain tumour .
