Bryony Kimmings charts her relationship with her niece Taylor in Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model as she examines the world of 'tween' culture, disrupting the usual offerings of Katy Perry and Jessie J by creating a new role model - Catherine Bennett.

Bennett is constructed by Taylor – she’s a palaeontologist who likes to sing about animals and friendship and talks about feminism in school assemblies.

The performance manages to pull off a difficult juggling act – to report a personal journey whilst creating an entertaining and surprising theatrical event.

The use of sound was fundamental to achieving this – at times played at levels so loud the venue offered hearing protection, infusing the fantastical moments with atmosphere.

However, the piece offered no insight into how the performance itself had been created – did Taylor influence the content of the choreography and text, or does she just inhabit Kimmings' imagined playground?

Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model is profoundly affecting, more so as this was the final performance – Taylor is growing up and heading out into the world. Armed with this experience and a strong family of role-models she definitely has a tool kit for survival.
