A COASTAL town has become a candidate for the title of Britain’s most desirable town.

St Leonards has been named one of the ‘best performing towns’ in the UK in property site Zoopla’s analysis of house prices for the first six months of the year.

The East Sussex town saw the average property price rise to £186,228 in July, an increase of 11.8% since January and the UK’s third-highest rise.

Across the whole of the region, house prices rose by more than £127 a day in the first half of the year.
