BOGUS websites are being used to scam disabled people.
East Sussex County Council’s Trading Standards team is warning people applying for a blue badge permit to avoid websites charging as much as £45.
Rupert Simmons, lead member for the economy at East Sussex County Council, said: “These websites are targeting some of our county’s most vulnerable people.
“They are taking people’s money and never deliver the blue badge they promise.”
Mr Simmons also stressed that only two organisations deal with applications for Blue Badges in East Sussex and those are East Sussex County Council and the Government.
The blue badge application should only cost £10 and that money should be returned if the application is unsuccessful. For more information on the blue badge scheme or to apply for a permit, visit www.gov.uk or www.eastsussex.gov.uk.
Alternatively, call the helpline on 01323 464244 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 4pm.
