A village post office is moving after 130 years of family trading.

Nigel Harris has worked at Patcham Post Office, in Old London Road, Brighton, for 45 years and has been postmaster for 35 years.

He will retire later this year with the Post Office relocating 300 meters down the road to Salmons Newsagent.

The Post Office will close on Monday, September 22 at 5.30pm, with the new service opening the next day at 1pm.

The new post office will be open from 7am until 7pm daily except Sunday when it will close at 2pm.

The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, has more than 11,500 branches.
