Wolfgang Suschitzky receives honorary doctorate from University of Brighton

THE centenarian cinematographer behind the Michael Caine classic Get Carter has received an honorary doctorate.

Wolfgang Suschitzky, 101, was given the special award by the University of Brighton.

Speaking to students at a graduation ceremony yesterday at Brighton Dome, he said he had been “a very lucky man" and was honoured at his invitation.

Vienna-born Mr Suschitzky, who also worked on Worzel Gummidge, became a specialist cameraman during the war.
