A man was left unconscious after being hit with a car this morning.

The 20-year-old man, believed to be of Eastern European origin, was left with potentially life threatening head injuries.

Hillsboro Road in Bognor Regis was closed for several hours after the incident at 8:48am between its junctions with the A259 Chichester Road and Linden Road.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance landed at nearby Hampshire Avenue Recreation Ground to airlift the man to Southampton General Hospital.

The driver of the car was shocked but unhurt.
