A man has been left with cuts and bruises to the head after being assaulted in front of his wife and children.

The victim was walking past Flamingo Amusement Park on East Parade in Hastings Old Town with his wife and two children when the assault took place at 7pm on July 18.

There is believed to be one suspect, described as a bald white man aged around 35, six feet tall, with a muscular build.

He was wearing a white T-shirt with blue shorts and was carrying a white plastic bag.

PC Andy Lancaster said: "This was a seemingly unprovoked assault where the suspect walked up to the victim, spoke to him and then began to hit the victim in front of his wife and children before leaving the scene."
