Bus passengers heading to the Sussex coast were given sun safety tips along the way.

Suncare advisers hopped on board a “Go Ahead” bus taking day-trippers to Brighton and Eastbourne as temperatures continued to rise across the county.

The advisers, who work for Boots, spoke to passengers about using sun protection creams and the need for sunglasses and hats.

Adviser Tracey Buckenham said: “Everyone can feel some of the sun’s rays, but we wanted to help people remember that the invisible UVA and UVB rays are the ones that have visible effects on the skin such as sun damage and premature ageing.

“Once the skin is pink, damage has been done.

“The good news is that, with proper use of sun protection, these effects can be easily avoided.

“Pop a hat on to keep your face shielded from the sun and do not forget to grab your sunglasses to keep your eyes protected.”
